Organic whole milk. It’s an entirely different taste than regular whole milk or find Amish with milk cows and get milk from them.
Why shouldn't you give whole milk to your daughter? Our pediatrician recommended it and was in fact very adamant about it being whole milk unless we discovered a dairy sensitivity, intolerance or allergy. If I remember right that's because of all the additional nutrients in whole milk plus the iron and fat. What does your daughter's pediatrician recommend? No offense but sometimes parents can be sort of overbearing and not wanting to let their kids make their own parenting decisions. Unless they're doctors themselves or at least can give you a reason for not giving whole milk, I'd trust the pediatrician first. Edit: Apologies if this comes off as preachy or rude. I think because of my parents, the whole situation is a little triggering to me, lol. Anyways, the above is just my two cents for whatever it is worth!
In the UK whole milk is recommended. Toddlers need much more fat than adults do.
Parents are saying a lot of things… and they aren’t always right. What they were told or what they did was so many years ago and a lots is proved to be false. Do your research, ask your ped ! But don’t take for granted everything your parents say :) they want the best ofc but they do not know everything bc they kept you alive 😅 That being said, at 1, babies should be diversified, and yes you can give her whole milk ! It’s a sum of everything she ingests : if you stop formula at 1, make sure to give enough iron sources. My ped even told me that if my son was just eating yogurt it was perfectly fine as long as he has a calcium source. It’s just balance !
Whole milk is good. The full fat helps fuel their growing brains and bodies
Whole milk is the norm once they turn 1 unless there’s a dairy allergy or lactose intolerance. Do organic if you can, but most importantly contact your daughter’s doctor for advice.
At 1 they can drink whole milk as long as they show no issues with it it’s not bad for them my sons Dr told us she wanted him on whole milk but he always had an issue with it with formula and had to be on soy so she had us try lactose free whole milk but honestly i would just talk to your Dr and see what they recommend if she does good with whole milk then there’s nothing wrong with it and most 1yr olds and up drink it
If your parents aren’t pediatricians, it doesn’t matter what they say. It’s your child, you do what’s best for your daughter.
Grassfed whole milk is what I use for my daughter.
I've always been told and heard and read that whole milk is healthy and great for toddlers. Not just toddlers but people in general. But you can supplement with goat milk, soy milk, or even almond milk. Or you can supplement with foods that are high in calcium, calories/fats, and vitamin, proteins since that's what whole milk gives the body. My son doesn't like cow milk or really any milk so his pediatrician gave me a list of foods to give him instead
If she’s over 1 it’s fine for her to have it but you can look into dairy free alternatives if you want to switch! (Oat & almond milk)
Please don't listen to them...listen to the pediatrician, give your child whole milk
They had their chance to raise a child , now its your turn. Listen to the doctor thats certified
Do your own research and decide for yourself imo. This goes for anything, they are not the parent, you are. My family tried to say my daughter would gain so much weight and start to get fat- when infact she’s lost weight and is still on a normal growth scale for her age. She’s been on whole milk for 2 months as of right now and drinks 12-15oz a day usually (split between 3 meals). For reference my daughters also been in the higher percentiles for height/weight because she is a tall girly with her dad being 6’3” and I had to stop breastfeeding for my own reasons around 3 months (which was actually when she gained the most weight).
My toddlers have been drinking soy milk since they turned 1. Their doctor recommended it and they're meeting all of their millstones. We don't drink cows milk in our house.
