Baby HATES his cot.

Please tell me this is just a ‘phase’…. My 6month old baby boy has decided he now hates his cot. He used to go down fine for a good 3/4 hours, then have a feed & go back down. The last 3 nights it’s like he hates the cot! He’s waking up about 10 minutes after putting him down & is so restless he just keeps waking himself up. I’ve resorted each night to putting him in bed with us, it’s the only way any of us get any sleep but i’m worrying I’m making a rod for my own back & I’ll never get him out again! Does anyone have any suggestions? I’ve tried comforting him, shushing, stroking his face etc, he falls back to sleep but as soon as I’m gone he’s awake & crying again. Very tired mama over here!

Maybe try wearing a muslin cloth and put it in his cot with him with your smell? X

My son is doing exactly the same and I try to persevere and keep putting him back down but I end up giving up around 2am and just getting him in bed with us which I always said I wouldn’t do as I don’t want him getting used to it 😭 but I’d be up all night otherwise as he just won’t sleep longer than 30 mins at a time! He also used to do 3/4 hours! X

My little girl is doing the same For the past week, she’s been asleep since 7 but already on her sixth wake up xxx

@Courtnee it’s sooo hard isn’t it! Weighing up trying to stay persistent & persevering verses zero sleep & having to cope the next day! I always said I’d never have him in my bed because I know it will be a struggle to get him out of the habit but I’ve given in every night this week for the sake of a few hours sleep! X

@Amie Cuttress my little boy lasted 12 minutes in the cot tonight! He’s now fast asleep on the sofa next to me! Guarantee if I attempt to put him in his cot he’ll wake & get all upset again! X

Mine is the same... I wonder why its happening

You could put a hot water bottle in the cot whilst you feed him and then take it out so it’s warm in there. Check you’re following the safe sleep wearing guides as it may be that he’s getting cold x

@Sophie I know it’s so hard isn’t it, the nights we’ve had and sleepless nights have been awful and so so hard she sleeps on my chest for an hour here and there sometimes just so I can get some sleep lol Xx

Separation anxiety very likely. My baby always liked the next to me and also the cot and 2 weeks ago massive change and would not sleep longer than 30mins. So we now co-sleep but in a way she is still in her cot but we removes 1 side and attached to our bed so I am next to her. There is no teenager sleeping with parents so u aren't making a rod.

Might be a sleep regression and should go back to normal after a growth spurt or developmental changes?
