Not walking

My baby boy is 16 months and he doesn’t stand, he’ll walk along the sofa but he won’t stand or do any steps. Is anyone else baby like this? Should I worry?

No do not worry. Walking is an 18 month milestone which is simply a guideline that MOST babies are walking by the time they are 18 months but this is not set in stone and it is NOT unusual for some babies to walk closer to the age of 2 (my own mum didn't walk until 2 years old!). My son is 16 months and very steady on his feet but doesn't walk unaided yet and I have zero concerns whatsoever. If you are at all worried about development you can always speak to your health visitor, but as long as your child is showing signs of working up towards walking which it sounds like yours is, no need to panic right now!!

My son is the exact same, he’s very steady with cruising around but still can’t stand or walk unaided. I know he’ll get there eventually, and when I spoke to the health visitor they weren’t concerned currently, I just can’t wait for him to walk!

My LO went from cruising to first steps in few weeks ... they need to feel confident. I wouldn't worry!

My son just started independently walking this past week, right after he turned 17 months. Same as yours, wasn't standing or walking without support - sofa, coffee table, his pusher things; he wasn't even going while held by hands. But it just clicked one day and he got the confidence to start. Prior to that, we tried to encourage him to stand up without supporting himself on something.

My daughter started cruising way back in October but didn’t start standing alone & walking independently until March! Within two weeks of standing alone, she was walking! She was 15 and a half months. I was also getting worried but I guess they really do it when they’re ready!💗
