Is this normal behaviour?

I posted about this not long ago but didn’t have a good video but managed to get a better one today. Is this normal? I’m starting to get a bit worried and drs won’t take me seriously because he’s forward on his milestones so keep saying normal baby behaviour but I don’t see any other babies doing this is often and as forceful as my boy does. P.s the drawers have nothing to do with why he’s doing it. He does it anytime and anywhere.

Looks like he's learning what his head can do. My little girl does this but shakes her head like she's saying no instead of nodding her head like your little one looks like he's doing

My boy does it. We also had to get furniture straps and drawer lockers bc he also does this with drawers. I wouldn’t worry but you are a great mamma for being observant in your child’s behaviours

My girl does this she also bangs her head on purpose and slaps whatever she’s leaning on

@Ebony he’s been doing weird head movements since he was around 4 months old, used to be ear to shoulder repeatedly but now gone to this. Bless her, funny things aren’t they

@Martha just google worrying me with infantile spasms I guess that’s why they say not to google but can’t help but worry! Wonder why they do it 😭 thank you though 🫶🏻

@Farzana yes same as my boy! I thought maybe attention seeking but it’s quite extreme!!

@Lottie I won't worry about these movements till he's like 1.5 years old. I would keep filming just incase but I'm sure it's just developmental stuff. The HV and GP won't be worried unless he's doing these types of movements still in a few months/years. You've got this Mama ❤️

@Ebony thank you girl🫶🏻🩷

I think it's just them discovering parts of their body. Instagram will have you worrying everything is stimming or spasming. Mine does different but similarly repetitive movements which change and evolve over time. A lot of it is really normal baby stuff

@Lottie deffo! She had me worried but I noticed she’s looking at me and doing it and then smiling when I’m telling her to stop! We just need to be patient with them! But after turning 1 she’s doing all sorts out of the blue ha!

I agree with Ebony, I’m an occupational therapist and the more videos you have of this - the more useful it could be in the future should you still need it. It also shows the situations he is doing this in (eg more sitting / standing / in a quiet room / in a busy room etc). I showed a LOAD of photos of my daughter’s eyes the first weeks of her life to the eye specialist which was really helpful for Ax.

@Lottie honestly don’t worry yourself! Take more videos and show your Health Visitor if you’re still worried in a few weeks time. Just document everything. Even other odd behaviours. You’re doing fine!!

Thank you everyone, he’s done some form of this from 4 months old and this is the 3rd video I have in 8 months 😭 I keep trying but he doesn’t do it when the camera is out 🤷🏻‍♀️ I find he does is excessively when he has an emotion could be excited, in a tantrum or when he’s tired. But then he does do it sporadically throughout the day too which just confuses me. I’ll keep trying to capture it, might just check in with health visitor anyway to be safe x

My LG does this. She's been doing it for ages! Thankfully she mainly does it on softer surfaces (sofa, bed, pouffe).

@Joanna they know how to make us panic that’s for sure!x
