Parking fine
I got a letter through today from Glasgow council about a parking fine. £100
They are saying that I didn’t respond to the last letter so now need to pay £100 instead of £50. I didn’t receive a letter and this is the first one. Has anyone had any luck contacting them about parking fine issues? I’m not disputing the ticket but feel down about the fact it’s £100 because I genuinely didn’t receive the initial notice. Obviously if I received this I would have paid within the 14 days as ultimately would need to pay anyway. Please can anyone give me some reassurance 😩 xx

Also to add onto to the above, ask them for the date they sent the initial letter and ask for an email copy of this. I had this in Aberdeen and when they looked they actually hadn’t sent the initial one.

You should be able to contact them and explain that you didn’t receive the initial letter - you can mention you aren’t disputing the ticket, but would like to be given the opportunity to appeal the £100 and pay the £50 instead. No guarantee they’ll accept that, and it tends to be on a case by case basis, so one persons success will not guarantee yours. Worth emailing them with an explanation and appealing - request them to reduce back to £50 and you will pay.
