Collecting

So I’ve been hand expressing my colostrum which with one side is going amazing but the other I’m struggling to get much out of. Is this normal or is there something I can do??

I don't know if you should be expressing it? I think you're suppose to collect any that leaks. I could be wrong though. As for low supply on one side that's going to be your "slacker boob" we all have one. Your baby will probably prefer the good side also which will mean uneven boobs while you feed. Totally normal. Nothing can be done. In case you dont know because i didnt. Your first 3 months you'll have the "newborn boobs" which will be an oversupply your boobs will be engorged and could be painful when baby hasn't nursed in 2 or 3 hours. That's normal also. Hand express for comfort or start your freezer stash. After 3 months your boobs will go soft and your supply will "regulate" to babies needs. As long as you eat and hydrate enough your body will do the rest. Good luck mama!

Totally agree with Amanda re: the slacker boob and the supply! Also, I never managed to get any colostrum out AT ALL. Even the first few days when my son arrived, I wasn’t sure he was actually getting anything because I never saw a drop. I just knew something was happening based on his many wet nappies. I’ve been exclusively breastfeeding and his growth is off the charts! So just a bit of encouragement that your body has probably got all under control x

Yes this is normal. But you can try balance this by introducing mord stimulatation by hand expression to the less productive side. It takes time.. here is our blog about colostrum harvasting with some tips hope it will be helpful. https://mylee.life/blogs/mylee-blog/colostrum-harvesting-during-pregnancy
