Best thing os to teach them to fall asleep independently. If you feed to sleep, that's what they will expect between sleep cycles.
Mine wakes up at least 6 times 🧘♀️ trying to stay insane. I’ve been trying to teach her to sleep independently, but she would cry so much at bedtime if I place her drowsy but awake in her crib
I'm not suggesting this is what you should do, as I'm really aware it doesn't work for everyone and isn't something lots of people want to do - but it's what works for us. We cosleep, so she doesn't actually even wake to feed. I just pop a boob out when I hear her start to stir and she dreamfeeds. I'm so much more rested as I don't need to get up.to feed and there's no crying. Don't get me wrong, there's lots of negatives to cosleeping, but there's positives as well - as long as Safe Sleep 7 are followed.
I tried to co-seep, but I noticed my lo would drink for a few minutes every hour or so, without waking me up. I ended with one boob completely drained and the other so incredibly full of milk that after a couple nights like this I got mastitis. Also, my baby learnt to fall asleep only while feeding. And no burping obviously, because sleeping. What worked for us: Observe during a day how long breaks babies have between feeds and add 1 hour. For example 3 hours feeding, then 4 at night. My husband helped a lot with that because he doesn't have boobs, so I guess baby thought it's pointless to ask him 😆 he fell asleep, while with me he would be crying 😆. Now he sleeps for a 4-5 hour in a stretch.
Following, at least 3 feeds a night for us too 😭
