Awful nappies

Since he turned 1 on Wednesday we have had 5-8 explosive nappies a day he was doing 1-2 firm ones before this. I'm going to try sizing up the nappies today as the mess on his clothes is getting ridiculous. But any ideas what could cause or what I could give him to help We have started giving cows milk but only 2oz in a 6oz bottle and the nappies started the day before I started this. Not sure whether to stop cows milk for a few days? We have gone to visit family so could it just be the change of water from hard to soft?

We’ve had this a lot too and I thought it might be the cows milk but it started happening prior. I’m doing the same amounts as you. Mine is teething also. When I pick her up from nursery they have said she is definitely teething as they can tell from her poo explosions… We also had very similar when another load of teeth were coming through. I don’t intend to stop the cows milk as it might be the fact she’s just getting used to it. But I’m here with you. It’s a lot of nappy and clothes changes.

We’ve had some too Flo.

We had this when we started the transition from formula to cows milk so we just ended up doing a straight swap and it stopped. But I also think she had a bit of a bug because myself and my husband ended up the same but it was only 24 hours for us.

Thanks I'll stick with the cows milk then

Have your baby recently been sick or unwell? A couple of months back my baby was down with the cold and she started having loose poo (not quite like diarrhoea) 3-4 times a day. Long story short I sent stool sample to the lab and the indicator of bowel inflammation was a bit higher than the paediatrician would like it to be. He said to cut off dairy from her diet because in most cases this would contribute to inflammation. Next day I cut off dairy nappies went back to normal so we are still keeping it dairy free for now until she is 1 (she is Bf and I intend to continue Bf). The other doctor told me after an illness it’s quite common for babies to have mild intolerance of some sort and it should get back to normal in 4-6 weeks time.

@Maria that's really interesting he had just had a cold!
