Nipple feeding ?

My 5 months and 1 week started nipple feeding for couple of weeks, he never had a very deep latch but was ok-ish . Gaining weight, enough wet and dirty nappy’s.. but God in the last couple of weeks he latches as before but then kinda pulls back his head and just grabs the nipple .. it started becoming v painful.. is anyone else experiencing this? And any advice ? Would appreciate alot

Has little one been checked for a tongue tie? They don't just occur at the front either they can be at the back or even a lip tie. It's not advised by midwives or health visitors but see if a nipple shield helps and then try to wean off of it when the tie has been sorted if that's what it is. Remember fed is best so if it doesn't work for you then formula is available for a reason.

@Kirsty hyia, he had a posterioir one but was released when he was 8 weeks old.. but last couple of weeks then nipple feeding is new thing ..re formula we tried , he is gagging on it and vomits it . And now we anyway suspected of cmpa .. to i am dairy free atm

My friend had that. She went back to the sleep consultant and got some useful tips on latching.

@iulia it can heal and you can end up back with a tongue tie so that's still a possibility I'm afraid. Ask to have it checked again. There is special formula that can be prescribed but you can also order it on Amazon so there are still options.

@Kirsty he us under an osteopath now due to some tighness was checke again for tongue tie and was ok.. not sure if related to teething or sleep regression. Also we are under infant feeding team already emailed them but being bank holidays … luckly got some frozen milk..

Sounds like you are doing all the right things.

@Kirsty hope is just temporary
