How you do discipline an autistic child?

I just learned my 3 year old is autistic I’ve done every method and I’m looking for tips …. When I tell him no to things he smiles and wants to do it more then rather then not doing it at all …

My 3 year old is autistic too. We just started ABA therapy and they’ve been helping with discipline. Have you thought about doing ABA?

How did your child get diagnosed? Were there other signs? My almost 3 year old is the same, doesn’t listen and smiles or runs away when I tell him to do something

@Raya I got sent places to take him I’m going to figure that out Monday I’m worried the insurance I have won’t cover it

If insurance doesn’t, United healthcare has a grant you can apply for that will cover it or you can apply for Medicaid for kids with extra needs!

@Kotah I made an appointment and did it from zoom call she told me he has mild autism from the things I pointed out and she saw for herself I do want to do further testing I have a family member that worked with ABA she told me they do another test to see if he qualified for the therapy I want to be the best parent I can be for him so he can be independent one day …. It discipline. Has been one of the hardest things to do because he just smiles and I feel like he doesn’t understand it

So kids under 4 do not fully comprehend “do not ____” or “no _____” because whatever fills in the blank, is the part their brain fully registers (especially for neurodivergent kids) I dunno everything you’ve tried so forgive me if I sound stupid or annoying or repetitive lol but Sometimes it’s about changing the language used which can be a longer process than what it sounds. It can be as simple as like “car on table” instead of “we don’t throw cars” etc etc
