I recently stopped. Best way to do it for me was to pump for 20 mins morning and evening for a week. Then I reduced it to 10 mins morning and evening for a week. Then I did one 10 minute pump session in the evening for a week and after that I stopped completely. You need to reduce your supply before stopping otherwise you’ll end up with painful clogged ducts and mastitis
You need to stop gradually. With my first I was recommended to stop one feed every two weeks. Thie worked well for me
Came to say the same as Conchi, I stopped gradually with my older two and never had any engorgement. We've got baby settled on one bottle now so I'm considering introducing a second, will build from there over time
I went through the same thing very recently. My baby was combi fed but started refusing the boob when teething began, I tried to push through but he wouldn’t take the boob. I have struggled with my breastfeeding journey from day 1 and wasn’t able to pump much either. I was really engorged for about a week, but I pumped a tiny bit just to relieve me and that helped massively. It’s been about a month now since I stopped breastfeeding and although it was hard and I felt emotional I actually feel at peace with it now. The engorgement won’t last forever and I know it’s painful x
@Senga going to try this it’s just so painful
@Sidra my supply dropped but then my baby got sick and wanted to be bf more about 2 weeks ago so now it’s a lot again 😫
@Conchi thank you!
@Mims sorry your journey wasn’t positive, thank you for the advice x
So I recently went through this and the engorgement has finally stopped and no longer producing milk, I thought it was never going to end! I started with cutting down feeds slowly so I did 7 a day then 6 for a week etc etc. towards the end when I felt engorged, I’d just pump and take the edge of so the bare minimum sometimes like 10ml would come out and my doctor recommended wearing a really tight bra so I wore a gym one and now they’re back to pre breast feeding! It’s a long process in my opinion but it does work eventually!
