Stomach pain

Looking for answers before I try and seek advice on Easter Sunday. For the last few weeks I have had the most intense muscle pain, it’s like a slicing stabbing pain at the very top of my stomach just under my right boob. It started as like a burning manageable pain and the doctor tried telling me it was acid reflux (it’s not). In the last week it’s becoming unmanageable last night being the worst it comes and goes in waves but it has me in tears sometimes it feels like I’m being stabbed and paracetamol isn’t touching it. I used to be able to wake up and get a few hours before it would start bothering me but now it starts as soon as I start moving. I’m really struggling but I don’t really know whose advice I’m supposed to seek out 111 isn’t coming up with the relevent stuff and I’m just really lost with what to do. I know the end of pregnancy isn’t comfortable and that she’s stretching my skin but surly this is too far🤦🏻‍♀️

i think any pain where paracetamol isn’t touching it warrants a trip to a&e, could be anything so i don’t really have any ideas or advice other than that, sorry❤️

Pain in the top right of your stomach could be a sign of pre-eclampsia. I'd contact your maternity unit/triage asap or go to a&e - better safe than sorry! Xx

My blood pressure has been on the low side my whole pregnancy, I think I just get worried about being told it’s just pregnancy and to expect to be uncomfortable, I can deal with uncomfortable but any pain that has me in tears because it feels like I’m being stabbed I’m really struggling to cope with it and I’m still working i suffer with anxiety and I get quite worried about wasting peoples time 🙈

@Lydia not to scare you or make you worry but please be aware that you can have pre-eclampsia without having high blood pressure

I had this in my first pregnancy and have it worse in now my second and mine is connected to my gall bladder! If you google gall bladder pain in pregnancy see if it says the same as you’ve described. I have an ultrasound next week to see and they also tried telling me it was acid reflux x

Hi if it's nothing to do with pregnancy it sounds like what I get - intercostal muscle strain. Sometimes I'm doubled over from the pain clutching my side like I have the world's biggest stitch. Thankfully it's not been bad during pregnancy but babys feet are in my ribs instead 🙄

Does the pain come particularly after you eat? Or if you have eaten something rich/fatty/spicy? It's very common to develop gallstones during pregnancy, I did with my last although I didn't experience pain until after she was born. The pain is so intense, I had no idea what it was and actually thought I was having a heart attack or a blood clot (I'd had birth complications and a C-section). After 6 months of attacks and a trip to A&E, learnt it was gallstones. I had my gallbladder removed just after my little girl was 1. I have been told though that the pain you experience with preeclampsia is similar to gallstone pain. So, either way, I would seek out some professional medical help and advice. Hope the pain eases for you and you get the help you need ❤️
