Blocked tear duct

Has anyone’s LO struggled with a blocked tear duct? Our 1 week old has a bit of a watery eye which is sticking together after she cries. I am confident it’s not conjunctivitis as there’s no colour to it and her eye is not red. From researching I believe she has a blocked tear duct and we have been using cold boiled water and cotton wool to clear it up. Just curious if anyone else has had this and if there are any further tips?

Yeah my almost 2 week old has sticky eye and has had it for a week. It just doesnt seem to want to go. Have a HV visit on Tuesday so will be asking her for tips as with my eldest the cooled boiled water with cotton wool on each eye did the trick but doesnt seem to be working this time. At the 10 day appointment I asked the midwife and she said it lasts a few days and as long as his eyes weren't red then they were happy no signs of infection x

My sons had this since he was born and he’s now almost four months old and the doctors have given us two eyedrops that haven’t touched it

My daughter has struggled with her eyes since she was born she is now 21months. They will not do anything for a blocked tear duct till they are over one as it normally correct it's self. Once she turned one, we got a referral from the GP for the ophthalmologist at our local hospital once they confirm the blocked duct they do a small procedure where they put a fine needle in the eye duct to unblock it. For now all you can do is the boiled water an if you google there is a massage you can do to help you start at the top of the nose annthen across the sinuses you see the water drain away. Hope it gets better on it own for your little one.

Cooled boiled water several times a day and good hygiene. We took our lo to the doctors for it, they swabbed it to check it wasn’t conjunctivitis and that was about it x

My GP recommended me to use breast milk instead of eye drops.
