My doctor recommended piriton...you will need to get it prescribed though. And only give it when u notice them itching. It was only 1ml xx
@Louise the thing is she'll still rub as I have tried just closing the hands on her onesies. Or does this differ somehow?
@Kirsty yeah I think if it gets worse ill defintely have to speak to the gp but I'm hesitant as she's barely 4 months so I don't really want to be constantly medicating
@Z I totally get it! We tried everything before the Puriton and she was about 8months when we finally gave in to it. It's a terrible time isn't it! I know scratch sleeves are meant to be good. They are like a little bolero with silk mitts on the end. We didn't use them just closed her mitts in the onesie like you, but she eventually did start managing to get her little hands out 🤦♀️😂 xx
I second scratch sleeves. They are great! My boy rubs his head/face due to eczema so is often rubbing during the day too and to self sooth for sleep. The silk mittens on them are kinder to the skin compared to the fabric on onsies/scratch mittens. He used to have red, dry patches on this face where he would rub but these have now gone since using the scratch sleeves.
@Mish thanks for explaining I will look into them because yh I definitely feel as though she rubs certain areas abd makes it worse. Like you said also I feel like sometimes it's not itching but it's she's tired or self soothing or a habit or something else so yeah might be worth a shot
@Kirsty her dad has very bad skin and allergies so I'm afraid we'll eventually have to medicate to control it but like you're saying I want to try my best to try other things first. Then again I don't want to put her through unnecessary hardship so may give in sooner and just ask the gp
@Z I got ours from here https://scratchsleeves.co.uk/product/original-cream/?attribute_pa_colour=cream&attribute_pa_size=6-to-9m&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2ZfABhDBARIsAHFTxGwwQkZr_3j6ve-FI_R2_yQxkoCiLFI4_P9zOc9T6-hhtJPnL14CcgAaAjSDEALw_wcB I know there are other places that do them too. Absolute game changer. No sneaky fingers coming out of the onesie covers and he can't pull them off like scratch mits. No matter how much we moisturise it doesn't stop and the antihistamines just make him drowsy but doesn't stop him scratching or rubbing, especially when tired. I've also changed washing detergent and bath products to scent free to reduce potential irritants. I hope you find something that works for your little one 🤞🏻
@Mish thank you so much!
Definitely scratch sleeves! Skin becomes red and sometimes flaky with cotton mittens and they fall off. Agree with @Mish their sneaky finger escapes so often and ... blood 😓 A lot less friction with scratch sleeves and it's thick.
Scratchsleeves 😊
