Birthing ball

When are we thinking about starting to use the birthing ball? I’m 36+2 and l struggling with my hips and restless legs hoping it might help a bit.

I've been using mine since about 23 weeks due to pelvis pain on advice of physio and midwife.

I’ve been using mine for weeks just to help with being uncomfortable. Get on that ball girl!!

@Ann-Marie @Jordon I know I’ve been waiting as my consultant said if I use it before 36 weeks it’ll help bring on labour 🙈 I’d heard mixed!

@Natalie I wonder if it's depends on what you do on the ball? Mine was about rotating my pelvis to relieve the pain. Just give your midwife a quick call and see what she says?

i’ve been using mine for weeks for PGP. I’m nearly 39 weeks and no sign of baby yet. i think it can help bring on labour when baby is more ready rather than at any time.

Been using mine for months! Deffo helps with hip pain

Months here too! PGP since 16 weeks. It's just nicer to sit on and rotate my pelvis more than anything x

Months here too. I'm wondering why the consultant would say that 🤔

@Natalie been using mine since 28 weeks and thankfully not had that problem! Also slow hip circles really helps my pain so might be a good one to try!

I've been using mine since about 25 weeks. It helps get baby into the right position before 36 weeks and helps with hip and back ache. This is my 2nd baby and I started about the same time with my 1st. I've never hurd a midwife or Dr say wait till 36 weeks? Wonder why they recommended that.

I've been using it since about 16 weeks! They help position baby but don't usually bring on labour so get on one!

Thank you everyone I’m going to start using it tonight x

@Natalie never heard of this or see any evidence. I've been using mine since about 20 weeks. Pelvic tilts are good for strengthening pelvic floor.
