Calling all co sleeping mamas - will I ever get my bed back?

Hey mamas! My LO is 6 months and I’ve been contact napping and co sleeping, who needs a chiropractor when your baby can rearrange your spine for free every night🥲 I was really just wondering at what age do they sleep on their own in their own bed? I am scared of developing a bad habit of co sleeping where LO will always need me to sleep. I really want my bed back, I’m so jealous watching hubby sleep like he’s on a spa retreat and there I am at the edge of my bed clinging for dear life. There’s more room on a Ryanair seat than my side of the bed these days😭 For those who co slept, did your little ones eventually start sleeping on their own? If so, when and how did it happen? Just trying to see if there’s light at the end of the mattress-hogging tunnel.

Hey, we're not completely out of the woods, we sleep in the same bed still but little one can sleep by herself away from me in the bed. The bed is very large and she doesn't move in her sleep. She's 4 and a half months. Next step for us is to get her in her own bed :)

I'm not one to say as I am still cosleeping (little one is 9 months) but your post made me laugh so much! 😂 I appreciate your humour! 🫶 I ended up "kicking out" the husband to go and sleep in the spare bedroom so I can have a bit more space in our king size bed - baby loves to sleep like a starfish. 🤦‍♀️

My little one is 7months and I've been cosleeping with her on a single mattress futon since birth - can't help with when it ends sorry 😅 but in terms of comfort, im usually a back sleeper but have been surprisingly comfortable putting 2 pillows under my thighs and having ones supporting my back so it rolls me more onto my back. I find i sleep much better this way than sharing a bed with my partner usually

@Amanta ur one of the lucky ones mama! My LO doesn’t move either it’s my husband that does. I don’t know why he likes to do his beached whale impression at 2am in the morning😭🤣 moving my son out of the bed is more for his sake than mine I need my baby to sleep in peace! Not waking up wondering if there’s a tsunami going on🥲

@Julia haha thank you for enjoying my post and thank you for commenting! ❤️ I think I need to start doing the same with hubby, forget the 4 month sleep regression, HE is the sleep regression for us🤣🤣🤣 having a king size bed with just you and your baby is a dream 😍 so glad it’s working well for you mama! My husband is king size on a double bed, imagine😭😭🤣

@Emily honestly this sounds like a luxury! Got king size Kong in bed with a baby doing baby yoga and me hanging on like I lost a bet. Might ditch them both and get myself a single futon too!🤣 thank you for the tips tho mama, definitely needed!

Thank you ladies for commenting! So what I’ve learnt here is not the baby ruining my sleep, it’s the other oversized child I married. Very interesting! At this rate he might be the one who needs to learn how to sleep on his own not our baby🤣🤣🤣🤣

😂 Definitely! I think it's worth a shot asking your husband to sleep elsewhere for a bit and see how that goes! Good luck. Hope you get some good sleep. X
