@Josie he’s never really had blackout or even darkness for naps. More thinkjng will he have trouble getting to sleep at the start when it’s light super late now and/ or wake up super early. We have a 5 month old so could do without even more disturbed sleep 🤣🤦🏼♀️
He will adjust! My lg has blackout blinds but chooses to have a night light on when going to sleep. She will also sleep with the blinds open so they get used to it!
@Leonie we’ve never done blackouts for naps always in a day lit room, the lighter nights starting it’s tricky so we draw the curtains in our living room to start to signal it’s getting ready for night time to make the living room darker and cosier and her room had her blinds/curtains drawn with her lamp and night light on when we take her to bed lamp gets turned off and night time music goes on but we rare having a few sleeps issues, from teething and nightmares 🙈
We've just been on holiday for 2 weeks without blinds and she struggled a wee bit but ultimately slept normally. We still keep blinds in her room though because the sun shines right into it from the afternoon until sunset. Her room gets blindingly bright and very warm.
@Josie were also dealing with nightmares 😫
We’ve never had blackout, the room is usually dark but the sun creeps in, come morning time and we use white noise night lights too I never wanted to get them used to a pitch black room knowing that if we go places / other houses they might not get that and still wanted them to sleep just as well x
We switched from total blackouts about six months ago when we moved her to a new room in the attic conversion, it has five windows so loads of light, and she sleeps as well as ever!
They do adjust. I got my boys new curtains that said they was blackout and a piece of tape would work better 🤣 it never bothered either of them x
We do however we have a nightlight on in her room all night and during the day she naps on the sofa and it can be super bright when she naps so definitely possible
