No words AT ALL

I’m curious if anyone else is experiencing this, my little boy has hit every other milestone and walks like a champ. HOWEVER he isn’t saying anything. Now I know it could be a LONG time before he says words and I get that, but does anyone else’s child simple grunt and moan ALL DAY long? I am not trying to sound mean about my own child but he sounds like Jodie fosters character in Nell. Or Arnie from what’s eating Gilbert grape. I’m using these references because I’m genuinely concerned.

Does he mimic any noises, songs or word patterns at all? I’d say if he is mimicking and starting to form/practice sounds then it could just be a development delay but regardless would consult someone to express the concerns and how to help him or understand what that block is?

He doesn’t mimic at all, and when you try and get his attention he just stares straight ahead. He shows all the emotions for correct experiences but other than that it’s mostly just grunting

Does he use any signs or babble at all? I like to remind people that signs count, too! My girl mostly grunts and makes noises. However, she does also use signs, babbles when she wants to, and verbally says a few words. I am an anxious person and I find myself comparing to people who swear their baby is saying 100+ words (though I’m pretty skeptical of that, to begin with). Comparison is so hard at this stage. Hard to know if there’s an issue or if the different development is simply indicative of different strengths and/or personalities.

My daughters doctor said at her 15 month appointment last week that at this age, they’re only expected to say 3 words. So even if babe is still saying mama, dada, hi, bye and/or ball; that’s okay!
