Sucking in neck when breathing

Morning! My little one is a week old today & I noticed intermittent raspy breathing the last couple of days but put it down to the positioning he was in / just funny noises they make from time to time. However this morning I noticed he’s really sucking in at the neck when he’s breathing & breathing pretty rapidly. Does anyone know what this could be? My mum instincts are telling me it’s not normal and I’m of course going to call the GP - but I don’t want them to fob me off and say it’s normal if it’s not! So I want to be able to advocate properly for him. I did see something online about laryngomalacia but again I don’t want them to just play it down.

His breathing does seem a bit laboured to me, I would definitely get him seen today

He’s definitely working harder to breathe get him into the gp asap might be bronchiolitis x

Is he tugging in under the ribs as well? It can be bronchiolitis. Definitely get him checked if you’ve not already

Thanks guys! I took him to A&E, they did all his obs, checked his chest etc and said he was fine. They said sucking in at the trachea can be normal for newborns whilst they’re still maturing, they said if it had of been happening with any other worrying factors I.E sucking in at ribs, off his food etc then it would be a cause for concern but for now they were happy with how he was presenting!x
