That is exciting! I didn’t have a great idea with my first when I got induced and it definitely didn’t go the best it could have. I labored for 3 days and I totally regret not knowing or having someone with me that would advocate for me as well. This time when I’m induced I’m making it know I do not want to labor for 3 days, my water had broken on the first day, baby did not have enough fluid for the entire 3 days, unfortunately he had swallowed meconium, had the cord around his neck and I had an infection and had to be on antibiotics through all of this. This is just worst case scenario and it makes me angry this all even happened and I had to leave the hospital without my baby since he had to be in NICU for a week. If you feel something is off/wrong or you don’t like something, definitely say something. This time I’m making sure I don’t labor for this long and with my first it should have been a c-section to get him out after even a day and we could have avoided so many of the…

Complications. Sometimes these nurses/doctors think they know what’s best but trust yourself, they are there for YOU and your baby and need to respect what you want and need through this process especially when it comes to baby getting here safely. I’m so excited for you and praying you have a great delivery especially as a first time mom. 🩷

FTM here! My labor & delivery didn’t not go as I had “planned”. I had to be induced due to my water bag rupturing (6 wks early). Nurses gave me 2 doses of misprostol after the foley bulb failed. I had hoped the balloon would’ve worked bc I wanted to avoid pitocin. They started me on pitocin at 1cm, I stayed there for about 2hrs. The last 3hrs of my labor I jumped from 2cm-7cm and baby girl was out with one push. I would advise you to research all possible medications they can offer and have a list of your preferences. Ask your nurses and doctors to explain the pros and possible risks of these preferences. Since pitocin is a synthetic version of oxytocin, the contractions are different than experiencing it naturally. What got me through was knowing I couldn’t escape the discomfort (I went w/o pain meds) and breathing properly. Allow your body to fall, be loose (relax jaw, drop your shoulders) and flow with each contraction, don’t fight it (tense up, hold breathe). YouTube exercises!

I got induced at 37 week (preeclampsia) with both of my babies. My first experience wasn’t great (complications due to my son’s IUGR) the second time around I took what I learned the first time and it went amazing!! I had a lower dose of the epidural and waited longer to get it, I had 90% feeling by the time I birthed- the epidural just took the edge off but I birthed my son with no guidance just natural ejection reflex! I also asked for no stitches unless absolutely necessary since my first birth I felt I was excessively stitched. My advice is to just advocate for yourself and what you want!
