I’m on Zoloft for PPD & PPA. Prior to having my daughter I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder & anxiety. I was prescribed lexapro at the time & it took a few weeks for it to kick in & start working. I was on lexapro throughout my whole pregnancy with going up & down on dosages. Then when I got diagnosed with my PPD & PPA they decided to try Zoloft it took abt 2-3 weeks & I felt okay on 50mg then decided to go up to 100mg then we went to 150mg. I’ve never felt better mentally obviously not every day is good but huge progress from being 2-3 weeks pp & now I’m 5 months pp. if you don’t feel anything in the next month or feeling your anxiety is getting better or the same I would recommend asking for a higher dosage. When I started Zoloft it made me tired for quite a bit of time then my body got used to it. It’s not a shame to ask for a higher dose bc you are supposed to advocate for yourself & mental health. The doctors are there to help!
It can take up to a month sometimes. I'd give it a couple more weeks then go back to your doctor if you still don't feel any better, it may be that a higher dosage or different drug would work better for you
I just started my 50mgs of sertraline. Now i can't answer your question but looking if im having side affects like mine. I take my at night, and in the mornings if i even put food in my mouth it makes me feel sick. Is that normal??
@Elizabeth replying bc this has happened to me! My very first sign of PPD amongst my family was lack of appetite I was being forced fed pretty much for the first 2 months after I had her & my Zoloft helped a lot with appetite. But when I started it the thought of food made me nauseous & generally food in front of me. I think the worst thing of the medication was the drowsiness it gave me. Which was terrible bc I was tending to a newborn as well so it made me extra tired! I was taking it at night for a while then transitioned to morning time! Hope this helps love!
I was on Lexapro for 6 months and didn’t notice a difference
