My goal was 6 months. I am almost at 7 months which I think will be when I stop.
@Cheyenne thanks for that, out of interest how many were you doing when you stopped, how much were you getting and how did you stop? sorry for lots of questions! my supply has decreased after several illnesses now it's even harder work just to get about 12oz often less
I was slowly dropping pumps with my first so I’d pump first thing in the morning then again at 3pm and once before bed.. I’d do that for about a week then drop the 3pm pump.. my supply slowly dried up when dropping pumps but I was dropping them as I got more towards a year with my first, slowly but surely my supply went from 50-60 ounces a day down to 8 ounces the most up until my last week when I pumped before bed and noticed only an ounce from my morning pump to my night pump so that’s when I knew I was done. I was wearing tight bras and just dropping pumps, it took a bit but I wanted to do it safely so I wouldn’t cause mastitis or anything!
Im at 12 months this week. Planning to stop soon and tradition to whole milk. I have quite a stash Edit - my initial goal was 3 months!
I'm 12 months in and plan to go to 2 years. I haven't got a stash of milk. I live 3 days ahead of myself and that's it.
My goal was 6 months but pushing to 1 year now. Currently on 9.5 months.
My goal was 6 months and I made it to a year. I have a month worth of milk but only like 1-2 oz if that.
My initial goal was 3 months, then 6, then a year - I stopped at 15 months, with a further 10 weeks of frozen milk on top of that. We were going on holiday and I just didn’t have it in me to pump on holiday with an active toddler so that was the decider for me on when to stop! Even though I was only pumping twice a day by then, it felt so liberating to stop. However long you make it, you’ve done an incredible job to get that far. Exclusive pumping is so tough, mentally and physically, but it is a great start for your baby so congratulations, you’re amazing ♥️♥️
thanks so much for all your replies, @Cheyenne @Stephenie @Louise @Helen @Emma @Johanna @Rhiannon honestly props to you all for doing it any length of time, little one is nearly 15 months, she's not great at drinking water and we are transitioning from formula to cows milk as my supply is not enough for what she wants to drink but finding pumping hard now, mentally and want body back but don't want her to not have any of my milk at all, wanted to get to 2 years with her having some of my milk but 4 pumps a day for 12oz less is getting bit much but I know dropping down will make supply even less that will prob then just end up stopping, don't have much in freezer x
Planed to pump till 2yrs pp, but had to stop cause I got pregnant at 18m pp but had a mc. But had enough freezer stash to last till my child turned 2.
With my first born I stopped at 13 months. Now with my second born I plan to stop at 12 months.
