@Kelly This makes me feel better! I figured the 2-3 hour recommendation was an avg and we should continue to feed on demand. I just wonder when the timing will naturally spread out, gives me even less time to do anything in between feedings especially with her reflux and needing to be held upright afterwards
Yess I’ve just been trying to go off her cues. Sometimes she’ll wants to eat an hour later but usually it’s at the almost 2 hour mark. I agree it can feel like you just go through a full “cycle” of feed, change, nap and it’s time to start again 😅 I’m thinking around 3 months it might start to get longer in between? But I’m sure every baby is different
This is what I'm going through, currently almost 11 weeks. Doctor and lactation consultant answer is to just ride it out until she starts solids. As they say, "she's a snacker," "some babies just snacker". She does however goes longer stretches at night. Only waking up twice.
@Maya same mine sleeps longer stretches too! i think they may be snacking to get what they need in the day before bedtime maybe. thanks for sharing!
I’m at 12 weeks and she’s still every 2 hours. So sounds like she’s right on track at roughly 2 hours
@Holly this might be a silly question but is it 2 hours from the start of the last feed? so if she starts feeding at 1pm and goes till 1:30pm, 2 hours would be feeding next at 3pm, right?
Yep correct! She eats probably for 10-15 mins now but if she eats at 2 for example, she’s generally ready again at 4 (considering she’s in that time period where her naps are only 30 mins right now).
I think it’s okay as long as her weight gain is good! My baby is 10 weeks and does this too and has reflux. If I lay down to feed her and let her fall asleep eating on her side she typically doesn’t spit up. My doctor said it’s the same as feeding them upright and then holding them up after eating. As long as I’m not drastically moving her position after eating her reflux is so much better. I usually just slowly roll myself off the bed and we have two baby wedge pillows so she can’t move after I get up. Saves me sanity during the day because I feel like i have more time between feedings not having to hold her up as long and helps her nap too.
Just a reminder that they also want milk when they are thirsty, not only hungry 😊
Normal. Mine was feeding every 30-90 minutes at least half the day. My baby’s a 90th percentile baby sometimes it doesn’t mean that you don’t have enough milk.
Mine is the same! Every hour and 45 she wants to eat if she’s awake. Sometimes she’ll go longer if she’s napping lol
