Struggle sleeping

Anyone had any issues with sleeping due to breathing!? So I’m 36 years old, and 34.5 weeks pregnant with my second baby. I never had this issue with my first and I put on the same weight, I’ve gained like 4 stone which sounds a lot! And it feels a lot! Everyone keeps telling me I look fine, and I don’t feel too bad. I’m definitely struggling with it more now, I’m snoring like a walrus and I keep waking because I can’t breath, at first I read apnea, then I read rhinitis. I’ve been using nasal strips - the most unsexy thing ever. Sleeping has been rubbish for weeks because of CTS so I’m feeling pretty miserable now. Especially because breathing is scary when it feels impaired. Things get weird and lonely when you’re up all night alone whilst everyone sleeps. My ears also feel strange and where my one nasal passage is clear it almost hurts. Has anyone else been unlucky with this?

When I was pregnant I struggled to breathe if I laid in certain positions. I think it’s mostly from the pressure of baby as it pushes your lungs up so they don’t inflate to their full capacity xx

Hey, I’m 35 weeks. If I lie completely on my back or even just lie on the sofa sometimes I also feel like I can’t breathe. I believe it s totally normal symptom of pregnancy especially as the baby is quite big by this point. Sometimes lying on either my left or right side in bed also impairs my breathing or just hurts my ribs. I have found it actually quite comfortable to sleep a little propped up on 2 pillows with just my head facing either left or right. Maybe try that and see how that works for you? X

Yup. Back I struggled and when the pressure increased on my lungs. Also, you have far more blood flowing through your veins which affects your nasal passages. Which is why you end up snoring and sounding congested, nose bleeds can also be really common!

I never experienced it with my first, I had breathlessness when going up the stairs from smaller lung capacity. But this is next level, I have read many things about extra blood volume and swelling etc. Sometimes it just feels lonely like you’re the only one struggling. They say second babies are bigger sometimes too, I hope not too much bigger 😅😄 thanks for commenting guys, I will try sleeping more upright xxx
