Bottle help!

We're having such a hard time getting our daughter to take a bottle. She's exclusively breastfeeding and overall that's been going well. When she was around 4 weeks, I began pumping and we introduced the bottle but then she started refusing it after a couple weeks. After a break, we've been trying to reintroduce it (tried Dr. Brown, Philips Avent) but it's been going so poorly. We finally found a bottle that doesn't make her scream/cry (Tommee Tippee) but she'll only take an ounce. Even though she's clearly still hungry and will happily latch on to my boob. Sometimes we can get her to take an additional ounce after breastfeeding but it feels like such a struggle and it seems like I'm either pumping or breastfeeding for the entire time she's awake. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

MAM brand saved my life!!! My first was exclusively breastfed until almost 6 months and that was the only bottle (and paci) she’d take!

What size nipple are you using?

@Ashley using size 2/medium flow

That should be the right size if she is over 2 months... we also use Mam and my girl took to them right away and I was breastfeeding at that time. Who normally feeds the bottle? My girlie wouldn't take one from me at first 😔

We had the same issue and finally had success with the Lansinoh bottles!

Tonight actually was my first success on this topic. All i did was didn’t feed him for 3 hours and after his bath i offered it. He took it!!!! He doesn’t take formula but he took the breastmilk from a bottle.

My exclusively breastfed baby likes evenflo balance wide neck bottles, and we discovered through daycare that he takes it better when he’s not being held. Try putting her down on a Bobby pillow and giving her the bottle.

Evenflo wide+

You might want to try a slower flow nipple to make it more similar to breastfeeding, especially if it seems like the bottle overwhelms her.

Mam all the way and try a size 2 nipple!

Have you tried advent the glass bottles my baby's wouldn't drink out of any other bottle except the glass advent bottle we went through like ten different types of bottles before we figured it out but just keep try different shapes of nipples and bottles explore your options in sure there is something that your baby will like beside the boob

@Ashley my husband gives her the first ounce, which she takes well. Then she starts refusing it. He's tried tons of different positions. She's obviously still hungry so I breastfeed and then she'll slowly take the last ounce from me

We do best with the evenflo short ones 9 oz with wide neck. My LC swears it works for every single baby she’s tried it with ❤️

That is very strange! Have you consulted your pediatrician? Maybe they can refer you to a specialist. Best of luck, momma!

Seeing the pediatrician this week for her 4 month visit and I'm definitely planning on bringing this up. I'm open to trying other bottles too. She takes the first ounce smoothly though so we're just not sure why the remainder is such a struggle

Not strange at all. A lot of breastfed babies just prefer real nipples, we had to switch the bottle to fast flow bottles to mimic the fast flow of my breast around 3 mo old
