Unless you live together how would you share it anyway? Just say it isn't possible to share, also she might not even need to use one. Hopefully she will forget when she's in the throws of being a new mum x
Depends on which parts you're sharing. My sister-in-law gave me her electric pump (Philips Avent) which was quite expensive. But I'm only using the actual machine and bought a new manual breast pump of the same brand to use. So the parts that touch the actual milk are new and only used by me, but the electric part which doesn't touch the milk is second hand.
I wouldn’t share for the risk of cross contamination, also it’s just inconvenient I think.
On the NHS you can hire breast pumps 🥰
If you were to pump in a hospital setting, you would have to share it, of course after it has been sterilised so I don’t see why not (although as someone said, may not be so convinient time wise)!
I did a pumping masterclass and they said in that that it’s not recommended to share your own or buy secondhand pumps due to cross contamination so I personally wouldn’t. I wouldn’t put my baby’s health at risk. It’s probs an awkward topic ofc to discuss and to say no to sharing it, so if you just google ‘sharing breast pumps’ it gives you all the reasons why you shouldn’t. You could just screenshot and show her x
