Tantrums

Little one is having tantrums now, sometimes only minor and sometimes quite big. When having the big tantrums, she will literally throw herself around the floor, head bang, pull her hair, scratch the walls, scream and cry and it’s honestly heart breaking! If I try to hold her and cuddle her she just pushes off me, she gets so dysregulated! It’s heart breaking seeing her like that and also so sad that she doesn’t want to seek comfort in me😓 Anyone else?!

Yes, the proper throwing himself on the floor, rolling around screaming tantrums have started. I just make sure he’s safe/not going to bang his head on anything when he gets in an absolute state. Rub his back or hair and speak to him softly until he calms down. Then I’ll cuddle or distract him, whichever he will let me do. I imagine we have a few months of these until he can begin to communicate better! It’s so so hard

It’s so horrible to watch isn’t it! I think you’re right though, let’s hope when they communicate better it’s easier for them to understand the big emotions! x

Going through this too. My boy will throw himself down and keep shuffling away from me while screaming when I try to bring him in for a cuddle to calm him down. If anybody has any tips in addition to the above please do share!
