Better sleep after stopping breastfeeding?

Mums, anyone who was combi or EBF found that after stopping breastfeeding your LO’s are sleeping better/through the night?

My little one has been combi feed since birth - he has a bottle of formula before bed sometimes weetabix too for supper if he has had tea earlier and it's made no difference to sleep he still is up hourly in the night wanting to breastfeed

I stopped breastfeeding a week ago, and we’ve gone from anything from 3 to 10 wakes a night to 1 or 2!

@Indy how to you actually manage to stop I'm finding it impossible even though he takes a bottle he loves boob too much!

@Lauren I had tried a few times before, each time was SO awful I caved within an hour or so, both of us in tears and ended up more touched out and frustrated than I would have been just feeding her! I saw someone on this app actually say they put plasters over their nipples so I tried that. I found that by showing her my boob, saying it’s gone now and her being able to actually touch it and what she was expecting not to be there lol she was then quite happy to take an alternative rather than just scream and grab at me. The first night she woke the same way she usually would and I just laid next to her and sang or recited the bear hunt story lol but day by day it got a lot easier. X

I did see the plasters tip but thought he might be too little to understand! X

@Indy how long did it take x

@Lauren I thought the same but I think if they understand where the nipple is, they’ll understand that it’s not the right texture etc! X

@Amz I think by the second or third night we were down to 3 or 4 wakes then over the last 2 nights it seems to have gone down again. I do co sleep though, I don’t know if that’s made the difference because when she wakes she can just snuggle in and go back off x

My previous EBF baby has had a bottle of formula pre bed for about 5 weeks now but his sleep only improved when I sleep trained and even though I was happy to keep 1 night feed he dropped it within 3 nights of sleep training

I am also sleep training @Hannah, how long did it take for your baby to sleep train? I’m a month in 😫

Oh bless you sounds awful, my LO could already self settle during the day but couldn’t at bedtime or in the night so we had a massive head start, so it only took us 3 nights to get a full sleep through. We are 2 weeks in now and currently about 60% sleeping through, 40% one wake at 4am for him to practice crawling 🫠 (June baby)

@Indy I do also! So during the day does bubba take sippy cup with formula?

Extreme difference. My girl used to wakeup after every 2 -3 hour for feed, Morning she has weetabix then 5-6oz formula, Then Food pouch/fruit/yougurt formula - nap - dinner (whatever i make for myself) chicken/ rice etc snack formula and sleep. she sleeps straight to 6-7 hours and then 2-3oz milk and sleeps back for 3-4more hours. i found it good transition. My sleep has also got much better.
