How to teach 10mo not to scream?

My baby big time found her voice this week, and today screamed at the top of her lungs from 9 am to 8 pm straight (with just a couple nap breaks). Happy, sad, needing attention, hungry, excited, it doesn’t matter - she’s screeching like a velociraptor full volume. How do I teach her not to scream for attention? I cannot handle one more day of this, I am going to lose it.

My eldest did it for months straight, my twins both do it. It's an age thing in my case, all three once they find their voice they want to show it off big time. I try to distract them with toys or a snack but once they are done right back at it.

Screech back and let them laugh about it and then they’ll move on. My twins do this back and forth and I’ll copy with them and they don’t like it so they stop

@Cynthia I wish my twins would pause when I do it back at them haha they laugh and keep going 🤣

I just ignore it and he stops. I think bringing attention to it makes it worse

I call mine a pterodactyl 🤣 Not funny, I get it, I’m sorry. My baby girl is 9 months tomorrow. She found her voice about 2 weeks ago. She does/did the same thing. It’s a work in progress. I’m doing the positive reinforcement approach. I don’t pay any mind when she does it but I do make it a point to talk back to her more when she babbles at a normal volume. It seems to be working, there’s been a lot less screeching and whole lot more babbling. I don’t know if that helps any. Maybe try just talking to her, a lot, at a lower volume than usual (maybe she’ll catch on when she has to quiet down to hear you). Good luck, you got this mama!

Don’t scream back. I would say no no no shhh since at this age they begin to understand shaking the head and no.. may not seem like it at first. And mine went through this for a month full volume EARLY PIERCING screams!! Mainly when he wanted something and sometimes just literally randomly. I was going crazy!!!! I’ve never heard of another baby doing this until I saw this post haha. Good thing is after 3-4 weeks he’s finally settling down on it, it’s pretty rare that he does it now. So definitely a phase. Thank god.

@Leilani lol I’m sorry! I annoy my babies a lot so when I do it excessive they give me dirty looks and move on. It works a lot
