My little boy has only just started to properly take his first steps at nearly 17 months and he’s still not a confident walker. Some babies can take way past 18 months and still be absolutely fine. I know it’s really hard not to compare but they are all so different💙Things that really helped him was encouragement, loads of clapping and well dones when he would take a couple of steps so that he would want to try again. Soft plays & swimming are also really great. Also no socks indoors & really try not to put shoes on outside as this could delay. Good luck! Xx
My first walked at 16 months while my second walked at 22.5 months. They’re 5 & 3 now & you would never guess it took them that long. Don’t worry so much! I recommend distracting them while they walk along furniture. Also, have him hold a toy in each hand. For whatever reason, that helps them with balancing.
Try both holding onto a toy instead of hands! That’s what my partner did to encourage our LO and it did work! So she’d have hold of the baby say, you then hold the baby too then as she’s walking holding it he’d let go. After a couple times she managed to walk herself. Then just LOADS of encouragement.
This is a really good account https://www.instagram.com/jt_thepeds_pt?igsh=MTg1YnhqOWV1ZXI3bg==
I’m in the same boat!! Absolutly losing my mind but have to keep reminding myself that it is normal and there’s still time 😩 he also only wants to practise walking with us outside so rain or shine we’re outside practising 😅
Try putting 2 pieces of furniture close together and slowly move one back so your child walks to the other. 🤷🏼♀️ Every child is so different
