Ecv procedure

Morning ladies, I’m booked in for a ECV next week, could really do with some positivity and information on people’s experiences if you’ve had one done.. (I’ll be 37 weeks on the day) was yours successful?? How soon after if successful did you go into labour? baby was head down most of my pregnancy and within the last 5weeks gone into the frank breech position and shows no signs of turning back to head down position 😕 Hospital have told me to make sure I have my bag with me in the car as it could put me into labour and as a result I could end up having a emergency c-section (which wasn’t a first choice)

I’m going in for a growth scan at some point next week (letters being posted out with date) as my babies been head down for months now and then yesterday (36+5) he’s decided to go transverse. So they’ve said said they are going to scan me again next week and if he’s not moved they are going to try turn him then induce to avoid a C-section. I’m intrigued to know how successful it is. I’d love to avoid a C-section if possible.

Hey! I had two with my daughter who was breech from around 33 weeks. It is uncomfortable but it wasn’t too painful. It didn’t work for me and I had a c section 6 days before my due date which was a relaxed and great experience I was so nervous but it was all very chilled. They won’t try to move the baby for that long only a couple of minutes and they will offer a second attempt if the first doesn’t work. I think even if they do turn it’s only a 50/50 chance they don’t revert back so they will keep a close eye with extra appointments. X

@Natalie they said they’ll offer me the ecv next week if failed they’ll try again 2-3days later, if unsuccessful they’ll book me in for a c-section at 39weeks

@Jennifer they’ve said baby’s frank breech (head up and feet and hands in face too) I think I’m working myself up and worrying about the ecv a lot 😬 my work have started my maternity leave a lot earlier due to this 😔

Are they just turning baby then inducing you straight after? (Same day? )

It’s nothing to worry about at all it’s just uncomfortable for a minute or two, my daughter had her bum in my pelvis basically and they couldn’t even half turn her because of the position she was in. They tried again in the hope she’d moved her bum but she was stubborn. If you went into labour naturally before they would just take you straight for a c section they wouldn’t let you attempt to give birth naturally, my c section experience was great section itself less than an hour start to finish and I was discharged 24 hours later, as long as you keep up with the pain meds it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be I was able to go for short walks after a few days. I am due my second in 3 weeks and am considering another c section. X

Mine was unsuccessful to the point baby was actively working against the doctor and they didn't see any point trying again another time (instead booked an elcs) - however, it wasn't scary at all, a little uncomfortable/tender but not painful like I had heard, and I would have always wondered 'what if' if I didn't at least try so I still take it as a positive. Also, even if an ECV is unsuccessful, baby can still flip themselves or you can opt for a vaginal breech delivery (actually safer for you but *slightly* more dangerous for baby, make sure your hospital has trained midwives in this case) The chances of an emergency section are ridiculously low, I'm sure they've just warned you to cover all bases but I wouldn't worry about it, whatever will happen will happen and you'll get through it Best of luck xx

My belly’s already soo tender even the midwife feeling is painful, and when adding pressure I get a shooting pain in my back, starting to get uncomfortable even partner wanting to feel kicks ect 😔

Hey, I also had an ECV. It was a little uncomfortable but not painful. It didn’t work for us, we had a c-section which was a beautiful experience ❤️ I would happily try an ECV again if this baby becomes breech. The staff were great and monitored baby and checked that I was feeling ok the whole way through. Good luck! X

Did they book you in at 39weeks for your section @Anna ? Thanks for your experience ☺️
