Sex to bring on labour

Anyone tried doing this?😂 we’ve not had sex in about 2+ months so I’m quite scared if I’m honest. Does it feel uncomfortable or painful?? I’m 38+4 and trying to do everything I can to get baby out!!😂

Awww, try not to be scared if you can, I know that's easier said than done. It's important to do what's right for you. Perhaps, have some intimate moments without the pressure of inducing labour would be best before setting that goal firmly in your head then maybe you'd feel more relaxed? Also, it depends what you class as 'sex'. Sometimes clitoral stimulation is enough or a massage just to get you relaxed and the oxytocin flowing, even a nice cuddle or a kiss (I've found it hard to fully kiss my partner during this pregnancy - that induced vomiting 🤣). I've got lots of friends that have never even thought about sex to induce or even during labour and a few who have gone with the method "whatever gets baby in, gets baby out". I think the best thing to do is follow your instincts. No need to be in unnecessary pain and discomfort. If it helps, I'm 39 weeks and have been having sex regularly the whole time I've been pregnant but we are all different. It doesn't hurt as we work together to enjoy it. Good luck.🥰

We did before our first and Labour started the next day, we will never know if that contributed by apparently There is something in the semen that helps things along 🤷🏼‍♀️

@N L that would be prostaglandins. You need prostaglandins as well as oxytocin to go into labour :)

@Paulina ah yes that’s the word I was looking for! Certainly have no inclination to do that this time 🤣🤣

Can’t comment on wether it starts labour or not as I’m not quite there yet but me and my partner have been having sex all throughout pregnancy and honestly, it pretty much feels the same (for me at least) of course, the positions are limited now🤣 but don’t be scared, it shouldn’t be painful! Just make sure you’re in a bump friendly position and account for any pelvic/back pain you may have xx

Thanks guys!! X
