@Savannah Thank you!! My little one gets upset at the breast too sometimes. I have an overactive letdown and sometimes I think it makes him give up and not take enough, so he wants to nurse every hour/hour and a half. I do have stored milk but the idea of making a bottle and not ever having to pump just seems so nice. But I know to keep my supply where it is I'll most likely still have to pump unfortunately. Part of me wishes I would just switch completely to formula but I can't bring myself to stop breastfeeding lol!
You either have to breastfeed and make sure you’re empty before making the bottle or pump to empty. I breastfeed and then pump to make sure I’m empty and then I also feed a bottle of formula usually starting with 1-2 oz. I don’t get enough milk to feed my baby so I have to combo feed.
I know it can be a lot to pump regularly but a good quality portable pump might be a good option for you, if you don't already have one. It can give you some freedom to move around. I have a toddler to chase around and I like the madela portable pump it has a suction close to a hospital grade pump so it gets the job done in less time.
Hi, I’m a first time mum and I combi feed. My little one mostly has formula as he tends to get fussy on the breast. It either comes out too fast for him or too slow, not really sure so that’s why I started combi feeding and also he was wanting it every hour (getting hungrier I guess) and it was so tiring! I breastfeed him through the night and he’s not fussy at all at night. I don’t have a massive supply but I also pump now and again when he gets fussy as my boobs hurt and I only pump about 2oz from each breast. That’s just my experience. He seems to like formula and breastmilk but as I say he would get fussy and have to give him a bottle of formula as I wasn’t sure if he was getting enough from me. I hope you figure things out. I chose to do both as I do enjoy breastfeeding and me and my son have bonded really well! Good luck! X
