Breastfed babies and sleep

Anyone’s exclusively breastfed baby sleeping through the night? My 6.5 month old still wakes up several times (once if I’m lucky). I had this problem with my two year old as a baby as well. I’m starting to think ebf babies don’t sleep well😅 I don’t do sleep training so it’s rough over here most nights.

My almost 7th month old doesn’t and I started her on solids at 5m She’s still waking up at least 2-3 times a night 🫠 so I think that is the case. Everyone I know has only formula fed and is shocked my baby hasn’t slept one night yet

My EBF almost 6 month old only wakes once per night on average, but he's completely sleeping through more often. I'd say about 60/40 right now.

Same. And I have a 3 year old and 6 month old same for both babies 🫠

My 6.5 mo sleeps from 830pm to 530am and is ebf. I do pump some nights when he refuses to nurse, but I haven't noticed a difference, whether bottle or nursing.

Same here. I noticed once I got her up once, then she'd be up all night long. For example sometimes she'd wake up at 11 pm first and then I knew I'd be in for 2-3 wake ups. And I knew she couldn't possibly already be hungry unless we had an off nursing day. So I let her fuss a little and she went back to sleep. After 2 days of doing that she doesn't wake up anymore until later (usually 2ish/3ish am) which I'll feed her then, and we can usually make it to morning ! I hear you that you don't want to do sleep training but it's the only thing thay got both my babies to start sleeping a little longer. 🙈

It probably is milk association rather than actual hunger, my daughter is 6 months and primarily breastfed. she was having similar sleep issues where she would be up every few hours, and eventually I had to crack down on it because she was going longer stretches during the day without needing to eat than she was at night (we do the moms on call schedule so she nurses every 4 hours). I also don’t believe in the cry it out method and so when my daughter would wake up at night I’d go get her, we’d rock for a little and this typically put her back to sleep. I will give her a bottle here and there right before bed rather than nurse so I can ensure she’s getting a full 6-8 ounces and there isn’t a reason for her to wake up more than once if at all. After a couple nights she stopped waking up a ton throughout the night like she had been because that association was broken. From 2-3 months she was sleeping through the whole night consistently and then 4 months regression hit us hard🤣

So both my babies have been EBF. My first NEVER slept threw the night till 2 and we still have some bad nights and she is 3 now. My second baby 6 months sleep threw night most nights. Typically teething, ear infections or sleep regressions will destrupt it but she's finds her away to sleeping threw the night again. I think it depends on the baby 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks everybody for your comments and insight! I do think it’s more of a comfort thing, but he won’t take a paci sooo I let him nurse when he’s upset because I hate for him to cry himself to sleep. Maybe I’ll try some gentle sleep training in a month
