Leg cramps - can’t walk properly

I’m 39 + 1 and in the night had an awful leg cramp in my calf. I’ve just woken up and I can barely walk, I’m shuffling around. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be/how to make it better? Never experienced one so severe before with my first child. Thank you

I had this last week! I screamed so bad my partner thought I was in labour it was horrendous. Apparently it can be caused by dehydration, I’ve been drinking more water and stretching before bed and it hasn’t happened again

I had this, the pain lasted a few days unfortunately. My midwife also said it was dehydration so I’m trying to drink more before bed even if it means getting up more for a wee

Drink lots of water, electrolyte sachets if you have, bananas and take some magnesium

My ultimate hack to calf cramps, the minute you feel it coming on.. stand up and walk around. I will occasionally cramp in the dead of night (pre-pregnancy and during) and I will immediately stand up, it hurts slightly but not as much as letting the cramp continue. You can also try to prevent cramps by drinking water and using magnesium lotions. I notice I tend to get cramps after eating lots of meat or takeaway foods.

They are often called Charley horses! They are painful aren’t they?! I usually get them if I’ve over done it on exercising or walks. My top tip is holding the area tight with your hand and rubbing it firm. If you are lying down, avoid pointing your toes downwards! You want your feet to be as if you were standing up and pushing down on your heel. Honestly… it will help massively. All the advice above has also helped me too!
