Planned section

I had a scan yesterday due to placenta previa and been told that I need a planned C-section due to my placenta covering my cervix. Has anyone had a planned section? & could share some positive stories🥰

I’d recommend reading stories from C Section UK. They’ve massively helped me in terms of reducing my anxiety around giving birth via c-section! x

I had an emergency one and, while the lead up to it was pretty traumatic, the op itself was very peaceful and efficient. I got to hold my baby straight away - I think they only gave her a quick look over and a wipe but she was on my chest within a minute of being taken out. My recovery was pretty good and I've not had any complications. All good on breastfeeding front as well (I know a lot of people worry about their milk not coming in and stuff but it's not how it works). Obviously, it wasn't the outcome I was hoping for and I needed a lot of support from my partner in the first couple of weeks but all it all it wasn't too bad! I have several friends and family members who had an elective and all of them said the experience was really positive x

When it’s planned they make it so calm and explain everything. You get to choose music if you want, and often your partner can cut the cord if they want to. There’s a lot more involvement that often isn’t possible when it’s an emergency. The staff are usually very helpful and understanding of the anxiety too!

My first was planned due to my LG having a potential bowel obstruction and was calm and all explained over the 2 weeks it was from being booked to having it and even on the day i felt panicked only cos of worrying about my LG but the everything elses was fine and going to have another elective c section on thursday

I had placenta issues and had to have a planned c section with the my 1st. I had a really good experience. The day we turned up at 7am and just waited to go down. I made a playlist and the staff was amazing at relaxing me and found the process stress free and calm. I did find the recovery hard but i did feel myself more after 3/4 weeks xx

I've had one natural birth and two planned c sections, I'm due my third planned c section in 4 weeks. I recovered faster and with Les pain after the section than I did natural. After my first c section I took my two year old and 3 day old to play group, where as with my natural birth I felt like I had been hit by a bus for about two weeks. My only advice would be when you feel fine still take it easy because a few hours later you will start to feel it if you do too much I also took paracetamol and ibuprofen to the hospital with me as they can be a little slow on ward rounds to get pain killers and you want to stay topped up for a few days. My second section was for my little girl who was in NICU so not in the room with me, when I first went to see her I went in a wheelchair (I still had a urine catheter in) but within a few hours I was walking back and forward between the ward and NICU. High waisted knickers and high waisted trousers will be your friend so nothing rubs on the scar.
