40 minute naps during the day

My 4 month old son only naps about 40 minutes at a time during the day. He sleeps through the nights waking up about 2 times to eat but goes right back to bed. Is 40 minute naps okay? Is this just a 4 month thing?

We're going through the 4 month regression right now and the naps have been such a battle.😭 He used to sleep much longer but now he fights it so bad! He's been sleeping at night ok most nights but sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night and wants to play 🙃 he's currently thinking 5am is play time 😩

my 4 month old has never napped longer than 30 minutes at a time

My girl cat naps throughout the day and sleeps all night so could be how baby is. Where my son was difficult to put down for naps or bedtime and fought sleep.

Yup welcome to the 4 months regression......I was enjoying the longer naps and now my little one naps for about the same time as well.

Same ! My 4 month old was sleeping through the night and by sleeping through I mean, I’d put him down around 8:30 and he’d sleep until about 7 . Now he’s waking up at 4 or 5 and is wide awake . I have been trying to give him 10 to 15 minutes to see if he will settle before picking him up but I for the most part have not been doing any overnight feeding anymore . But if he’s up around 6 l will give him a bottle

My baby would do this as well. And before, I would just pick him up after the 40mins assuming he was done. Now when he wakes up after 40ish mins, I let him be for about 3 mins before coming into the room. If he doesnt fall back asleep on his own, I come see him, shhh for a bit, shake his crib softly, put on his pacifier, touch his belly gently. It takes about 5mins for him to fall back asleep and he’ll nap for another 40mins or so. Try it out a few times! If you do this for 10mins and he’s still not falling back asleep then assume the nap is over. But he might surprise you!

My son does that until i have to found something keep his sleeping longer up to 2 hours. I have to create a calm environment for him during napping time. Before calm, I have to create a super activities for him to do so he can rest lot. I also feeding him after play then nap then woke up nap, feed him. When my son woke up his nap. I wait least 5-19 minutes if he really sleepy still or actually wake. Sometime he decided to go back sleep on him own. I have to stay away from his focus. If he see me. I would ruin his sleep. So i back off unless he cried (calls ) for me.
