TOCO reading

Can anyone please make sense of this? I went into triage tonight with reduced movements. Baby is absolutely fine but the midwife asked if I could feel the contractions which are apparently the bit down the bottom. They’re not painful or anything like that just feel like a stitch or baby’s feet in ribs so mildly uncomfortable so appreciate I’m not there yet but just interested if this is potentially a sign that baby might be coming? This was over a 26 minute period. I’m currently 39 weeks x

Yes those are contractions that are registering at the bottom so defo a sign your body is staring to do something!

@Izzie thank you! They really feel like BHs as in local spasms/ tightenings to only one side of my belly. I appreciate the readings class them as contractions as they’re over 25. Is this just down to pain threshold or is the machine not massively accurate? I’m also conscious I may have been moving around or talking so may this have affected it? Don’t get me wrong would absolutely love to be going into labour but don’t want to get my hopes up. Thanks so much x

@Izzie I have also been smelling clary sage so could they have been impacted by this and be “artificial” rather than natural ones?

They could just be some strong BHs, hard to tell over such a short time but they do appear to have some regularity. Movements could have affected it but I’d say they wouldn’t cause them to register that high! I think it’s hard to tell for certain, I think only when they become consistently regular is when you would know for sure! I had on/off contractions for a week before my second was born…. And yes clary sage could have brought on some contractions so possibly could have impacted the reading! Good luck I hope it happens soon 🤞🏻
