Breastfeeding and sleeping

My daughters 18 months and still nurses to sleep. I am trying to get her to stop but with no luck. She wakes sometimes to nurse still and I am just scared to be shamed for having a two year old and still breastfeeding.

"Shamed"?? By who exactly?! You do what works for you and your child, NOBODY else has a say on that! Breastfeeding is never a reason to be ashamed, no matter the age of the child. It's your own special bond with your child and you stop when you both are ready to do so. From what you mentioned, it seems she's not ready to be weaned off yet. You can try to introduce other sleep associations along with nursing (rocking, back patting etc) and then slowly reducing the nursing part.

My son is 2 in October and still nurses for comfort.

I agree, don't feel shamed for doing what is natural. If you or your LO are ready to stop nursing to sleep, there are methods. I nursed to sleep and through the night until 20 months. I stopped her nap feed first and two days after she completely stopped with nightly and middle of the night feeds. She is now 23 months and hasn't asked for it since. If you're still trying to wean baby off, feel free to message.
