@Jamie thank you
Jamie is right. If you test positive, they’ll give you penicillin to treat it, that’s all
@Wislène (Wiss-Lain) but if get negative
If negative you don't have to worry about it at all
Either way you'll both be fine
@Wislène (Wiss-Lain) also how work what they do
@Shanta if you test negative there’s nothing to do, if you test positive they will either give penicillin in pill form before birth or in your IV once at the hospital during labor and that’s it really. It’s just a preventative measure
That I don't remember either pee or blood test not sure which though
Ok thanks ladies
Hey I just moved to Tennessee from Lakeland Florida!
They test you by swabbing your vagina with like a long q-tip. GroupB Strep is a normal bacteria in your vagina but during pregnancy it can multiply. It’s not harmful to you but since babies have a weak immune system it can harm them via vaginal delivery. But it’s really nothing to worry about
Well back in September
@Wislène (Wiss-Lain) ok thanks sounds like Pap smear
@Wislène (Wiss-Lain) thank you! I forgot how it was done lol

@Shanta yes except they don’t go near your cervix
They use what looks like a long q tip, they swab the opening of your vagina (maybe an inch deep) and drag it along the perineum (space between your vagina and butthole) and poke your butthole (they don't go in it) and that's it. It's painless and fast.
@Sabrina thanks
I tested positive and doctors said I’ll b on antibiotics during labor. It’s for baby safety 🥺 But the ladies above explained it well 💯 I hope it goes well for you next week!
@Mitsy Gonzalez-Garcia thanks
@Mitsy Gonzalez-Garcia it’s really not as crazy as it sounds. They’ll just push penicillin in your IV (it might give you a burning sensation at first) and that’s it. I tested positive for it my 1st pregnancy and that was it really
If you do have it you just have to take an antibiotic I believe to prevent baby from getting an infection from birth. Nothing to worry about, it's not going to hurt you, just take antibiotics if you need to and baby will be fine.
