@Dianne but tap water here is not dirty ?
Boiling would kill bacteria even from tap water So it should be fine.
@Ornela in UK as long as your tap is frequently used then there is very little to no contaminants that will harm baby. It is only if the water is sitting still in the taps for long periods that some bacterias grow. If there are any contaminants then boiling the water will kill them off. Bottled water often has added minerals to it, especially compared to tap water, and can be too much for LO to process out as their kidneys and liver are not fully developed for a couple of years yet (it is why when you move to weaning they say do not add salt).
Yes you need to use tap water boiled in the kettle. This kills any bad bacteria in the water and in the formula. Wait for the water to slightly cool down, and when it’s warm make the bottle up
@Ornela I’ve used Evian in my prep machine and all my friends do and my nurse said it’s fine x
We also use bottled water but you need to boil it because it might mess with the amount of minerals your baby takes in (formula already has minerals and vitamins added so it might lead to higher doses than needed)
Hi there on a European holiday and using Evian water straight from bottle for my 8 month old baby Is it ok not to use boiled water for a couple of weeks?
So you need to boil the water to kill the bacteria in formula as formula milk is not sterile. Boiling it and letting it cool to 70 degrees kills anything that may be in there. Evian water isn’t recommended due it not being sterile the salt is too much for baby. you should only be using tap water. This guide should help you. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/baby/breastfeeding-and-bottle-feeding/bottle-feeding/making-up-baby-formula/
