11 was my first high one ever, everything else was pretty within range
@Natalie did you ever notice by like retesting half hour after if it went down significantly? Also wondering if your OB said whether or not your baby is the one absorbing the extra sugar making yours go down?
Yes I often noticed that sugars would change significantly after a little more time. I don't think it's baby absorbing them, I think it's our body processing them (I'm not totally sure about that though). The sugars cross the placenta, so baby will get some of them. My tests were about 1/3 high throughout my pregnancy, but baby is now 10 months old and happy and healthy. She had a couple of lows straight after birth but these were easily fixed with a little glucose gel.
It sure can be a balancing act! That first test has a lot to do with what you ate the evening before and if you had a healthy snack, how you slept, and if you had a savory breakfast. How did all of this play out for you?
@Natalie I’m super happy to hear that, it truly warms my heart and makes me feel better, like I’m truly trying my best and sometimes feel defeated. So knowing that there are babies doing ok makes me feel better
@Betsy my night sugar before bed was good, my fasting was good, and then my breakfast was pretty shit. But the past few days they’ve been really good it’s just this one day, and I’m sure it’s because of what I ate.
@Ashley I found GD super challenging, I wanted to give up most days, I couldn't wait till baby arrived. It was so hard some days! But it's also a limited time, I was counting down the weeks till she arrived. And your tests don't have to be perfect, just do what you can, some days that might mean having a treat so you can get through. You've got this!
@Natalie thank you so much!! I’m more worried about the baby :( I’m not worried about myself. But it’s true, it’s just a few more weeks and it’s done! Just gotta channel my energy to being healthy for my baby
I was testing 2 hours after the end of my meals and I was getting good results, but then got told it should be 2 hours after the start of the meal and my results were a little high. Unfortunately it's supposed to be from the start, but that's ok, you can work with your diabetes team. 11 is quite high, I only had a couple of results this high
