Induction

I went in at 730am. I had my daughter at 649pm. 🥰 DEPENDS on your body ! The doctors will show you ways to dilate faster:)

Every ones experience is different it all depends on how ready you're body is. I have been induced twice at 39 weeks with my 2nd & they managed to break my waters straight away & things progressed immediately. With my 3rd I needed the pessary then the drip. It can be a lengthy progress I was waiting a few days just for things to progress then to be moved on labour ward so go in with an open mind & don't expect things to happen immediately 😊

Remember your due date is just an estimate and they can come anytime between 37 & 42 week’s usually. I know how frustrating it can be as I had my little one at 41+6😫 Hang in there, you’ve come so far and you’ll meet baby so so soon. Baby can’t stay in there forever and I promise will come when they’re ready and you’ll have a lovely natural birth! Xx

Currently in hospital for an induction. Was given the prostin tablets . 1st one started small contractions, 2nd dose 6 hours later - made it more regular. Dilated me to 3cm and now waiting for a bed on the labour ward to have my waters broken.

I had zero signs of my baby coming on my due date and then went into labor the next day, so you never know!

Personally I loved my induction. Came in at 3cm and had my waters broken at midday on a Tuesday, had my son just after 3am on the Wednesday, ended up turning the drip off completely because my body had just taken over completely and had more consistent contractions naturally.

Induction will be offered at 40+5/41+5

I was induced by pessary 8th Feb, had frequent contractions but no cervical progression/ no active labour, so we were IV induced on 10th Feb at 11am and had our water broken. Baby girl was born 3:38am on 11th Feb. We did opt for epidural because of been having frequent contractions for 48 hours before hand and how intense the IV got. We managed 5 hours no meds and then after 2 hours of gas and air id had enough. I was really anti medication but honestly I’m so so grateful for the epidural and don’t regret it at all. It took all of the pain away and we sat and watched the office and some films until it was push time 😂

Just enjoy your last few days of pregnancy

Very similar to Daisy’s comment above. I had the pessary on 15th, had contractions for 24 hours but only reached 1.5cm dilated. Had the IV drip on the 17th and breathed through contractions for 4 hours, with gas and air for the last 30 mins (as I wanted to avoid pain relief and was scared of having the epidural). When the midwife checked I’d got to 3cm dilated so I cried that I’d been in 4 hours of pain for hardly any change, had the epidural and the rest was amazing!! No more pain, we just chatted, midwife checked again and I’d reached 10cm ready to push :) x

@Emma Louise I was super scared too! The waiting to see if we had dialated and still being 2cm was awful 😂 we had another 8 hours on the epidural so can’t imagine if we hadn’t done it. I think if we don’t go into spontaneous labour with our next then I’ll go for epidural straight away to relieve some of the stress of it all x

@Daisy I said the same, I was so scared of having the epidural, but if I were lucky enough to do it again, I’d consider having it sooner! Less time contracting in pain, and less worry about having a contraction whilst staying still for them to actually do the epidural! I don’t think I could have done the next few hours without it, and if I did then I certainly wouldn’t have had such a pleasant experience for pushing! (Also I had a bad tear meaning I went to theatre afterwards for stitches, and would have ended up having the epidural or similar for that part anyway! Atleast they only had to top it up as it was already in place) It’s all totally worth it when you see your little baby’s face, however you choose to do it ☺️ but I’d say my induction was a pleasant experience xxx
