Yes! I was so dissapointed! No one ever mentioned anything about not being able to use it every time I went in for any reduced movements or anything! I was able to go back down after the birth and recover in there for the night but I so so wanted to have the water birth! Not getting my hopes up for this time around 😂
I managed a birth in the birth centre but whilst in labour and in the pool in particular my temperature was rising, it went up to 37.8 but if it had become a fever they would of moved me up! Luckily it didn’t and getting out the pool decreased it! But I was so worried about being moved up…
Hi, I recently gave birth at the birthing centre - it really is a completely different experience to upstairs (I was induced with my first after coming in for reduced movements at 41 weeks, it was the second time I reported reduced movements so they offered me an induction since I was past my due date). This time round I went into labour spontaneously at 39+5 and there were no indications against the birthing centre. I did labour in the pool for about an hour but had to get out just before transitioning to established labour because, like Kerry, my temp spiked a bit (37.5) so the midwife recommended that I get out. I still had a very positive birth experience. Someone I know did give birth in the pool recently, so I guess it does happen - I think they just like to be extra cautious x
One person from our NCT group (out of 6) did. If you look at the stats, it's about 15% of births. They don't have enough staff to have it fully open, that's why they like to rush you up to the delivery unit for basically any reason. I think it's a real scam, and midwives should be more honest about it before birth, because I think it leads a lot of people to have a lot of disappointment about their experience.
