Hair shedding

I’m post menopausal. Does anyone else have really bad hair shedding? Can you share what supplements or hair therapy treatments you might be using that helps with this? My hair is also fine so that doesn’t help.

Nutroful supplements and scalp facials helps - mine is bad too feel you girl

Do you do your own scalp facials or have someone do it?

No I have a professional do them I wouldn’t even attempt it lol

How often?

Hello 🙂 This M-brace The Change factsheet on hair loss in menopause should be helpful: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1C9qEw3La4zFADRWjm4I-JRUCNQeXCs9B/view?usp=drivesdk Personally, I find Olaplex helpful, and I change regime around every 6 months - I swap to Nioxin, or the Champō range. I don't wash my hair each day, and use HRT. My hair loss is much reduced in recent years - postmenopausal age 53⅞ 🙂 Please be aware that some ingredients in hair supplements can be harmful, and some can affect blood test results etc (e.g. biotin). Supplements are not regulated and are not routinely tasted for safety and efficacy. 🩷

Thank you. Ive used Nioxin before but its been years. I just purchased the shampoo and conditioner by Routine Wellness. I’ve read good things about it. Im actually getting my blood taken this week so I will wait until after that to start any new supplements. Good to know! Thanks for the info link.

@Sharon I read that link and it makes so much sense now. My last pellet that was given was given with waaaay too much testosterone. That is one of the issues mentioned in that link you sent me that could cause the shedding. Because mine has really just started in the last couple of months bad. I’ve switched doctors though and im getting new bloodwork drawn this week so that my next HRT is dosed correctly.

Lorie Owen every couple of months

I use Nutrafol. My dermatologist recommended it, and it does work.

Something really simple and I've done this for myself is to use gelatin as a supplement. I buy the grass fed organic, powder form. Not the kind with the sugar and crap in it you used to make Jell-O out of. Take a tablespoon a day. In about a week your hair will be thicker and will stop filling out.

@Kim where do you get your gelatin from?

I ordered it from vitacost

@Kim thank yoiu so much! A more cost affordable option than neutofol for sure!

And..it will help heal your gut too😊

After awhile brushing my hair even though there's supposed to be normal" shedding, I'll just be honest from exspy...If you can, everyone is different too .. but b vitamins b 6, B12 and omega 3s, really helped my thinning hair and bald spots in a month, they also helped with cortisol and hormone therapy adjustments

@Angie good to know. I actually just bought some B vitamins and started taking those so hopefully i’ll have results like you. Thanks!

HRT seems to be helping. I’ve also tried nioxin. Just started a castor oil scalp massage at night a couple of times per week. My hair is soft and shiny because of it. Too early to notice results. Minoxidil works pretty well but like the nioxin, you can’t stop using. When you do the fall out is REAL.
