Formula prep

Hello! I'm looking for advice on how people are making up their formula bottles for the babes? Our breastfeeding journey is coming to an end and we're looking to finish completely in the next few weeks. Are you fresh boiling a kettle and prepping a bottle each feed (cooling down under a tap?) or do you batch make and put in the fridge? What are you doing if you're out and about? Might seem obvious but there's so much conflicting advice and having taken for granted that my boobs come everywhere with us, I'm brand new to it all! Any advice welcome 😊 x

You'll be fine, It's all there on the back of the formula tin 😊 Boil water in the kettle, wait 25-30mins (never over 30mins) add water to bottle, scoops of formula, shake/swirl then cool under a tap or in a bowl of cold water for around 15mins then check on wrist. When out and about I use premade bottles, it's super easy then! I just take a sterilised bottle and the premade. It's not recommended to make bottles and store them in the fridge due to bacteria growth but I know some that still do xx

We follow the step by step on the back of the formula tin when at home, although I’d say it always take longer that 30 minutes to cool down so we boil the kettle 45 minutes before she is due a feed, make it up after 30 minutes then leave for another 15. If it’s still not there we pop it in a jug of cold water. At night time & when out we use the “hot shot” method using a Nuby Rapid Cool. So 60ml boiling water (taken out in a chillies bottle) then mix in formula. You can easily pick up a cheap formula tub (we pre portion it) Put the rest (150ml) boiling in the nuby and cool then mix the 2 together. X

Prep machine...so much easier, does it all for you.

We use the nuby rapidcool. You boil the kettle, add the water and powder and shake. Cools a bottle from boiling to drink ready in about 2 mins. When out we do the same but add the powder to about 30ml of boiling water from a thermos into his sterilised bottle and cool the rest of the freshly boiled water from the thermos into the nuby then mix

I use a prep machine at home cos it's quick and easy. When out I use ready made bottles. I've had a nuby rapid cool for months but I still haven't used it. I still get so confused by it x

We use a prep machine and it’s been a lifesaver! X

We boil the kettle first thing in the morning, and fill up the Tomme Tippee flask, and another sports bottle (this one is for cooled boiled water) We fill the tommee tippee pots with the amount of scoops we need for each feed for the day (currently 6scoops for 6oz) We take the sterilised bottle, flask and sports bottle out with us in his bag (and we do the same at home!) We pour 2oz of boiling water from the flask into his bottle, add the formula and shake, then add the rest of the cool boiled water to make it to the 6oz line. Health visitor was more than happy with this technique. And literally takes about 30 seconds to make once you get the swing of it (and is instantly the right temp from adding the cool boiled water)
