Dropping percentiles

I took Niko to the doctor today because he just had his first birthday and isn’t really mobile aside from rolling places - he doesn’t pull up to sit or stand (although he does sit independently), and doesn’t shuffle, crawl or walk. The doctor couldn’t find anything wrong and thinks he’s just a late bloomer, but we’re going back next month to monitor him. What threw me is that he’s gone from 50th percentile to 25th and has only put on 1/2 a kilo since November. He does eat well but he doesn’t really like high calorie foods and mainly munches on fruit and veg but it seems quite extreme that he’s put on so little. He also refuses any kind of milk that’s not from my boob which makes things difficult because I’ve been wanting to wean him off. Has anyone had any similar experiences? Not too sure where to go from here. Photo of my cutie for attention

I am in the same boat. My LB was in the 9th percentile but he dropped to 0.4 percentile within 2 months of birth. He is still weighing the same he was 2 months back and I am concerned he will not even reach the defined 0.4 final weight at 12 months. But he is so active, walking holding furniture and crawling like super fasting, chatting... So I don't know. I am also planning to meet with the GP, let's see what they say. All i can say is don't worry about achieving a milestone, babies do take their own time some.early and some late. He will get there. Just keep monitoring 😊

With the moving thing, I had a call from my HV yesterday as at baby's 9m check she wasn't weight baring so wanted to check she is now she's almost 1. She is exactly like your little one on the movement side and the HV said she's not worried and they have until 18m not moving before they start investigating it. We will see if she's moving by then!

Hi Hazel, I think if I was you I would probably get a second opinion from a children's physiotherapist.

Thanks for your feedback :) these babies do like to worry us! @Sophie your HV seems a lot more laid back than mine! She put the fear of god into me but we’ve seen a doctor, nursery nurse and another HV since then and they don’t seem concerned. The amount of conflicting information out there is crazy! @Katrin thanks, we have reached out for a physio but it’s an 18 week waitlist and we can’t afford private. We have had several professionals take a look at him and none of them seem to be overly concerned - they’re happy to monitor him and follow up monthly.
