Should we move to Killeen?

Hi there! I'm Marie, 47, moving to East Tx in the late summer with my teen boy and gruff-but-sweet husband. Would love to make friends! I've been looking at houses in Killeen all day... why does everyone say it's dangerous? It looks amazing in photos! I'd love to hear from moms of teens (our boy will turn 15 in October) and if there's any area in particular you'd recommend we look at! Thank you!!!

Not a teen mom but I have been in Killeen since 1999 and I will say your best bet is harker heights. Killeen is a military town but a lot of the teens and even young tweens have been getting into a lot of trouble with damaging things, breaking and entering, theft (especially of vehicles). Housing costs have gone up DRAMATICALLY and there’s no jobs really hiring here so it would be hard to find a job for the teen when old enough. There will be people who say they love it here but this place has gotten bad 😭

Mom and step mom to teens 🙋🏻‍♀️ Yeah.. Don’t!! lol jk jk.. I actually met some people who actually likes it here but me personally would not recommend this area just because there is a lot of kids out here playing GTA in real life and the high schools here aren’t the best but it is cheap to live here.
