@Maria i didnt really think about it that way, i do think it'll sound a bit better when he's older. but it's also a really unique name so im worried about him being made fun of and what if he doesnt like his own name in the future:/
I had the same thing. It wasn't that I didn't like it but I wasn't used to it since he was my first kid so I also called him baby or buba a lot. His name is also Scandinavian so the J in his name isn't supposed to be hard but we pronounce it with a hard J.
I feel this. We named our son something I liked when I saw it on a baby name list with a middle name that someone on TikTok used because he liked it. Now I wish we had gone with a different name because there aren’t many nicknames we can call him and the first name now just sounds over used all around. But we’ve already announced it and made a blanket and a gown and hat with the name and initials so I guess there is no turning back. I hope he grows into the name. 11 weeks left till we meet him 💙
I was on the same exact boat with my son. when we got home I had regrets and I found myself never calling him by his name. It bothered me so much that around 2/3 months I changed his name legally however our court date isn’t till next month😅 he’s 5 months old now but everybody calls him by his new name and it honestly wasn’t a hard adjustment. I’m way happier now and I don’t regret changing his name one bit! If you really want to change it he’s only 6 months old maybe it would take some time to get used to but when he’s like 1-2 years old you won’t even remember going through the changing process!
@Blinera how did you go about changing his name? Long story short we named our daughter after a book character in a series I liked but we only named her her nickname not her “”legal”” name and now we both feel like her name on her birth certificate should have been the actual name.
Similar situation. I don't dislike our son's name. But I see it as a typical army kid name. But it has significant importance to my husband so I'm just coming up with nicknames I like. 🤣 Ironically he's in the same situation as my daughters name. We met when she was 8 years old. But again, her name has significant value to me and he just calls her by nicknames. 🤷♀️
@gracie it depends on what state you live in, in CA I actually just paid this name change company and they did all the paperwork and fees for me and they gave me my court date, made it so easy for me.
@gracie you cab make up nicknames it doesn't have to be shortened of the name My.son logan was originally wolfing but now I call him rolo and that's just stuck even though he likes to be called pickle 😂😂
i don’t really have advice but i would talk with your husband and if you are going to change the name do it ASAP before your baby starts recognizing the name when called.
