I’m nearly 8 weeks and I haven’t heard anything yet. It’s normally between 10-12 weeks and then the scan a week or so later
You usually call your gp and they book you your first midwife appointment.
Have you registered to Gloucester or Southmead? I think Gloucester look at registrations from 6 weeks so you should have a call from the midwife soon
I heard at 7+2 and booked in for Friday when i will be 9+5
I’m due January 2025, meaning in 9 weeks this week. My first midwife appointment is in the morning and my scan is in July. If you’ve done the self-referral and chosen a hospital etc, then they should get in touch with you soon. There’s no harm in calling and asking though if you’re worried. Good luck! 🫶🏼
Usually they'll give you a timeframe when you self refer but as you're so early it might be not for a while as they don't usually do booking appointments before 8 weeks. I think usually the appointments happen between 8-10 weeks. So don't worry! I was in the same boat and did self referral and when those first few weeks were radio silent I felt like nobody cared lol. They'll get in touch, they are just waiting for you to be further along. But if you haven't heard something in a couple of weeks, then give them a call :)
I’m in the same area as you and I did my self referral at 6 weeks, hadn’t heard anything by 9 weeks so sent an email to the address which was included in the confirmation I got when I submitted the referral. Heard back next day saying they had sent a chaser to my local midwife team, later the same day I had a phone call from a midwife and have got first appt now booked. How many weeks are you now?
Thank you everyone for your reassurance and help ❤️❤️
@Hannah I am approx 6 weeks!
@Amy ok, maybe a bit early at the moment as I think they say to self refer from 6 weeks, your GP was super keen! They say to make contact if you’ve not heard by 9 weeks. If you need the email address to contact them just message me x
I usually heard something before 10 weeks and had my first midwife appointment between 8-10 weeks with all 3 of my pregnancies. I usually had my scan letter arrive a week or so after my midwife appointment. The scan itself usually happened between 12-14 weeks They should ask you what hospital you want to go with in your first appointment with the midwife
@Hannah thank you lovely!
It seems to vary between trusts. I was contacted within a few days of my self referral where the midwife asked if I had any questions (I was at work, so couldn't really lol) and then booked me in for my first midwife appointment which was 3 weeks later (around 7 weeks). She then sent me an email with lots of info in it.
